The Co. Down Traction Engine Club's annual event at Mount Stewart, Co. Down, Northern Ireland, has emerged as one of the top attractions in the "vintage" enthusiasts calendar.
In this the 30th anniversary year, upwards of 300 tractors formed one of the main features. Complementing the tractors was an equally impressive display of steam engines, stationary engines, cars, lorries, motorcycles, horticultural equipment and various other interesting pieces of vintage machinery.
The Co. Down event is primarily a "working event", an aspect proving popular with spectators and exhibitors alike: threshing by steam engine and tractor, combining, binding, baling, ploughing, potato harvesting, tractor pulling and not forgetting the ever popular Friday evening tractor run. The show offers a unique opportunity to enjoy vintage machinery doing "what it was designed to do".
Visitors from all over Ireland, converged on the picturesque National Trust property at Mount Stewart on the Ards peninsula, for a truly memorable "step back in time".
